How to print from a laptop using the Tech Center printer
Connecting a Laptop to the Lib 034 Printer using Windows XP
KEY: > = Click
- Connect your laptop to the campus network by plugging in the Ethernet cord (if you have wireless, ensure that it is working properly).
- Go to START > Control Panel
- > Printers and Other Hardware icon.
- > Add Printer task.
- > Next.
- Make sure that the Local Printer button is checked, and that Automatically detect and install my plug and play printer is NOT selected, then > Next
- Select the Create a new port bubble, and > Standard TCP/IP Port in the pull down menu, and > Next.
- > Next.
- In the Printer Name or IP Address box, type LIB018-PRINTER then > Next.
- > Finish.
- Under Manufacturers, highlight HP, and under Printers, highlight HP LaserJet 4000 Series PCL6, and > Next.
- Name the printer Tech Center in the Printer Name box.
- Making this printer the default printer is optional, but if you do not make it the default printer, make sure you select the printer manually when you wan to print.
- > Do not share the printer, and > Print a test page to make sure that the process worked, and > Next.
- > Finish.
Connecting a Laptop to the Printer using Mac OSX

- Connect laptop to the campus network by plugging in the Ethernet cord (if you have wireless, ensure that it is working properly).
- Open the Macintosh HD.
- Open the Applications folder.
- Open the Utilities folder.
- Open Print Center
- > Add icon.
- In the drop down menu at the top select IP Printing.
- In the Printer Address text field type LIB018-PRINTER
- In the Printer Model drop down menu, select HP.
- In the Model Name list, select HP LaserJet 4350. (See Fig. 3)
- > Add
